Brass Band Willebroek : Who - what - where ?
 Brass Band Willebroek is cultural ambassador of Willebroek.
Brass Band Willebroek is an academic orchestra, consisting of 30 young and enthusiastic players. The band is a mix of (semi-) professionals, students at the music conservatories and a number of amateurs.
Conductor is Frans Violet, who founded the band in 1979.
Initially, the band existed and worked within the framework and the structure of the Municipal Music Academy of Willebroek. Since 1985, BBW is acting as an independent non-lucrative Association.
As a "Cultural Ambassador of Flanders abroad", BBW receives financial support from the Flemish Government. BBW is also receiving financial and logistical support from the city of Willebroek.
In the last 15 years, BBW has become a real "competition and concertband" : 3 to 4 times a year the band is participating in prestigious international brass band contests and festivals.
Willebroek, is a small city (22.500 inhabitants) located in the Flemish part of Belgium, in the middle between Brussels (Belgium's capital city) and Antwerp (world harbour) and very close to Mechelen.
